Rickenbacker introduced the 6000 model (Bantar) in mid 1966. It was a 5 string banjo/guitar (available as a 4 string version by special order). With a solid (chambered) body, 21 fret neck, two toaster pickups and a large circular white plastic pickguard, to which the controls were mounted. It was available with standard or deluxe features, in fireglo or mapleglo.
The Banjoline was developed in conjunction with Eddie Peabody and launched in 1968. It was a six stringed instrument (two pairs and two single strings) and was available with standard features and a round top body, similar in appearance to the 360 guitar (the 6005 model) or with deluxe appointments and a “German” carved top (the 6006 model). They were available in fireglo, mapleglo and azureglo (blue). Both models were fitted with the accent vibrato unit.
